About Bouchard Pere & Fils
Category Wines, Spirits & Ciders
Founded in 1731 and based in Beaune for nearly three centuries, Domaine Bouchard Père & Fils cultivates excellence and the transmission of know-how. The estate’s nearly 60 hectares represent an exceptional wine-growing heritage and are mainly spread across the terroirs of Beaune, Volnay, Monthélie, Pommard, and Meursault.
Following its merger with Artémis Domaines at the end of 2022, the estate is now led by Frédéric Engerer and managed locally by Emmanuel Dumont, CEO, and Mickaël Baroin, Technical Director. The wine négociant activity has been completely discontinued in order to focus exclusively on estate-owned vineyards, and the domaine has benefited from numerous recent technical improvements.
Since 2009, Bouchard Père & Fils has been committed to environmentally friendly viticulture. The 2025 vintage is the first certified organic:
• No chemical inputs.
• Use of green fertilizers.
• Grass cover / sowing (mustard, clover, radish, fava beans): combating soil erosion and evapotranspiration, natural supply of nitrogen compounds, potash and sulfur, soil temperature regulation, etc.
• Agroforestry (reintroduction of melliferous hedges, fruit trees, and local varieties in our vineyards).
• Strict selection of plant material (local, organically certified nurseries), mainly favoring massal selection.
• 10% of the vineyard left fallow. Average vine age between 25 and 35 years.
• Desire to “chardonnize” the estate: replanting certain Pinot Noir plots with Chardonnay, in response to climate change and demand.
