On 15 August, Malta celebrates one of its most beloved and deeply rooted traditions, the Festa of Santa Marija.

Across the islands, communities come together to mark this special occasion, filling village streets with colour, music and celebration. From beautifully decorated churches and streets to traditional band marches and spectacular fireworks, the Festa creates an atmosphere that is uniquely Maltese.

Yet, beyond the festivities, Santa Marija represents something even more meaningful: community, heritage and traditions shared across generations. It is a time when families and friends come together and when Malta’s rich cultural identity takes centre stage.

As we look forward to this year’s celebrations, we wish all those celebrating a Happy Festa ta’ Santa Marija!
